Tennesseans are still struggling financially from the Biden Administration’s policies that caused high inflation and increasing costs. As your state representative, I have supported legislation to reduce taxes on Tennessee families and businesses. I believe that we should reduce the sales tax on groceries to help make life more affordable. I also believe that we should cap how much local governments can increase property taxes without a public referendum. I have supported responsible budgets. I believe that we should limit the growth in our state budget so that Tennesseans retain more of their earnings.

Illegal immigration is a major problem in our country and state. While the number of illegal border crossings has greatly decreased under the Trump Administration, illegal aliens are still a drain on public resources. As your state representative, I have co-sponsored and supported numerous bills to crack down on illegal immigration in Tennessee and will continue to do so. We must prioritize citizens over those who have entered illegally.

The right to life is the first unalienable right listed in the Declaration of Independence. I believe that life begins at conception. I believe that each life has value and purpose. I also believe that the right to life extends to the unborn. As legislators, we have an obligation to defend those unborn individuals and to foster a culture that promotes adoption. I have a consistent history of supporting Pro-Life initiatives and legislation and will continue to do so.

The Second Amendment guarantees the right to bear arms. The Second Amendment is necessary to defend against tyrannical government and for self-defense. I fully support maintaining the Second Amendment as it is and have opposed legislative efforts to reduce our rights to bear arms. I will continue to be a strong defender of the Second Amendment.

Tennessee families want to feel safe in their homes and community. To accomplish this, we must keep violent criminals behind bars. I believe that violent offenders must receive severe punishments, including lengthy prison sentences. I have consistently supported legislative efforts to increase penalties for violent criminals and will continue to do so.

Stevens.
Robert Stevens currently serves as state representative for House District 13, which encompasses parts of La Vergne, Smyrna, Murfreesboro, Rockvale, and Eagleville in western Rutherford County. Prior to his election to the State House, Stevens served for 12 years on the Rutherford County Commission.
